Mounting License Plate Frame
For many years now, a license plate frame has been a necessary part of any license plate. They're relatively cheap and can be easily replaced when worn out. A license plate frame can either be made out of chrome or another non-metallic material. However, there are a number of things you can do to make your license plate frame look good and last longer without compromising the safety of your license plate.
A
metal License Plate Frame is typically not as durable or
long-standing as a plastic or carbon fiber based frame. If you want to protect
your investment, consider using chrome hardware for your license plate frames.
Since chrome is a much heavier metal than most plastic materials, it is more
durable and will stand up to the wear and tear of passing cars. Because it's
heavier, it will also generally cost more. Just like with the other license
plate frames, be sure to use heavy duty hardware so that it will be able to
support the weight of several plates instead of just one.
Most
people don't realize that license plates can have background paint applied to
them. These can be painted either in an original color or as an off-white.
Off-white license plates won't fade like original colors will, but they will
get softer and brighter when the sun hits them. The downside of using off-white
license plates is that they may be difficult to see in the sun. The other
downside is that if someone breaks into your car and steals the license plates,
it would be nearly impossible to find their identity.
Plastic
frames offer another option for protecting your plates. There are actually
frames available made from plastic that can be used to protect plates. These
frames are more expensive and are not really suited for covering up regular
plates. Because these frames are more heavy, though, they may also be harder to
remove without destroying the entire frame. However, they do have the advantage
of being stronger and less likely to be destroyed in an accident.
Aluminum
license plate frames are a good option for protecting your precious vehicle.
They are less expensive than other frames and are often much stronger, too.
Because aluminum weighs more than most other metals, though, they tend to weigh
more when shot. So, while they won't be easy to take down without damaging the
frame, they can be shot with a bow or an arrow and may not be as easily
accessible as other frame options.
The
traditional way to mount license plates is to install them on the roof. But,
these days, many cars are being made convertible and can now be fitted with
license plate frames. You can now buy license plates that can be easily removed
from your car. These frames are usually very strong and durable, although they
can be prone to corrosion if something gets really wet. They are most suitable
for cars with roofs that have very little chance of getting damaged.
In
addition to the roof, you may also want to consider mounting your license plate
frames on the ground. This would be suitable for situations where you want to
avoid having your registration tags knocked off. If the area you live in is
prone to high winds, you could also choose to mount your frames on the ground.
Semi-wide feet are usually best for this type of installation, although some
semi-wide bottom registration tags will fit on a half-space foot track. No
matter what type of registration tags you use, though, it's important that they
are secured properly to the frame so that they don't blow away in high winds or
get stuck in the snow.
Finally,
when mounting your license plate frame, you'll need to choose the best way to
go about mounting the entire unit. The most traditional way to do so is to
drill directly into the ground, creating small mounting holes that are slightly
larger than the actual unit. This allows the frame to sit flush against the
ground, avoiding anything that could get caught in the holes. If you plan to
install the unit in more than one location, though, it may be best to use a
truck mounting kit to keep the unit secure.
